Village Enterprise has started over 86,000 businesses, trained more than 287,000 entrepreneurs, and transformed over 1.8 million lives. Their international team works collaboratively with governments, other nonprofits, and private sector companies to ensure their approach to poverty alleviation is scalable, sustainable, and locally driven.
We partnered with the Village Enterprise team to reimagine foundational brand elements and establish clear user pathways in their new website. We modernized their visual language and logo to reflect their innovative approach and redesigned their website from the ground up to showcase the breadth of their work.
After seven years of collaboration, our deep knowledge of the organization allowed us to home in on core brand elements that needed to be retained and repositioned for the future. The new Village Enterprise logo highlights the acacia tree found in the original logomark for its symbolic representation of Africa, gathering, and community, but renders it in a modern style with overlapping lines to imply elements of Village Enterprise’s model: trade, business, and collaboration.
The new visual language guidelines outline use of color, pattern, and iconography. Their core palette improves accessibility while retaining the optimism and energy of their trademark bright hues. A series of textural patterns provides a human touch and adds interest to the brand, and a library of icons visually represent the impact and activities of Village Enterprise in a memorable and engaging way.
Like most nonprofits, the Village Enterprise website speaks to a diverse set of audiences and stakeholders. The new website structure gives audiences a high-level understanding of the organization and quickly guides them to relevant content. Clear calls to action signal where audiences can dive deeper into information on the model, evidence, and impact. The result is a content-rich site, intentionally streamlined to be bolder, simpler, and more engaging.
