United Way of Metro Chicago works alongside businesses, nonprofits, and other partners to bring about change at the neighborhood level. They tackle systemic issues that plague the city and surrounding communities by uniting key groups of people and collaborating to create change.
We partnered with United Way of Metro Chicago to develop a campaign centered around advancing the vision of Chicago with strong and equitable neighborhoods. The campaign illustrates what is possible in currently under-resourced communities.
The campaign illustrations pair with images of two Chicago neighborhoods—one urban and one suburban. The illustrations depict what a vacant building complex could look like once neighborhood support transforms it into a thriving commercial or mixed-use space. The illustrations are rendered in a gestural style to create the impression of immediacy—as if they are sketched over the images. When paired with the associated content, the illustrations inspire audiences to engage in creating a more equitable Chicago.
